Civitavecchia, 18th September 2019 - In the course of the 2019 edition of RemTech Expo, only permanent international event specialized on land reclamation, environmental and natural risks, safety, maintenance, retraining and regeneration of the territory, climate change and circular chemistry, the port of Civitavecchia, represented by President Francesco Maria Di Majo, has received an important award for environmental policies implemented in the last year.

"It has been an honor for me to receive this morning the prize "Smart Port of the Year & green technology" to the port of Civitavecchia," says the president of the Port Authority of the Northern Center Tyrrhenian Sea, Francesco Maria Di Majo. "From the beginning, my mandate has been characterised by a strong emphasis on environmental matters, and especially to the reduction of emissions in one of the most important ports, not only in Italy but in the Mediterranean, in which every year arrive over three thousand commercial vessels, passenger vessels and cruises," continues the leader of Molo Vespucci.

"Today, the port of Civitavecchia are seizing the opportunities represented by the significant increase in the supply of ships to clean fuel LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) that are already plowing the Mediterranean, as Aida Nova and, from the end of the year, Costa Smeralda, as regards the cruise sector. Civitavecchia is, in fact, one of the first ports in Italy to have introduced incentives for ships fed with one of the cleanest fuels in the world: LNG, which represents a crucial opportunity to make the mare nostrum and our coastlines increasingly clean and attractive places", continues di Majo. "With the recent measures taken by the AdSP and with those that we are about to adopt continues, the path of green policy oriented toward a greater environmental and energy efficiency of the port of Civitavecchia, in the hope of being able to be a model, not only at a national level but at European level," concludes the President of the AdSP.

The "Smart Port of the Year & green technology" award was assigned to the port of Civitavecchia because it stands up in issues of sustainable logistics, green commerce, smart projects, new technologies, water quality, marine litter, emissions and climate change.
