Port, Passenger Traffic: numbers in July and August 2017

July and August are for sure the most important months in terms of passenger traffic (ferry passengers) at the Port of Civitavecchia. These users are tourists, therefore, in these two months, the numers reveal absolute peaks that put port workers to the test.

Let's say straight away that in line with the previous months, the trend is positive with over 300 thousand passengers in July and slightly under 470 thousand in August (disembarking/embarking). The leader destinations are again Olbia and Barcelona. Let's now see the numbers in detail.

Note: we remind you that, as always, this information is partial since it is based exclusively on the number of reservations and, therefore, it doesn't include the many tourists who buy last minute tickets the same day of departure.

There were 808,778 ferry passengers in July and August 2017 (+ 1,43% compared to the same months in 2016). Concretely, 369,360 passengers disembarked and 439,418 embarked (numbers based exclusively on reservations):

Olbia (510,395 passengers), Barcelona (86,734 passengers) and Cagliari/Arbatax (116,247) were the most popular destinations during the summer months.

Tirrenia overcomes Grimaldi Lines also in July and August. The destinations covered by Tirrenia were chosen by 60% of passengers of Civitavecchia, while the destinations of Grimaldi were chosen by the 33%. Stady at 7% passenger traffic of Grandi Navi Veloci (GNV).
