The "Maestrale": last goodbye to the Port of Civitavecchia

After over 30 years of honored career, this saturday, November 28 the frigate "Maestrale" of the Navy makes a stop at the Port of Civitavecchia for a last greeting.
Delivered to the Navy in 1982, first unit of the naval law of 1975 together with the other sister ships in the "Class Twenty", the Maestrale has represented the backbone of the Navy for many years, thanks to an incessant operational activity in all the seas of the world.
The Maestrale will be in Civitavecchia for the last time on Novembre 28, 2015
I set sail on October 26 from Chioggia, during his last journey the Maestrale has already touched the ports of Ortona, Trieste, Venice, Ancona, Bari, Catania, Naples and Gaeta before docking next Saturday afternoon, November 28 in Civitavecchia.
After more than 30 years of business, this is a painful choice but obligated given the high cost of maintaining the unit.
However, we can comfort ourselves knowing that the Maestrale will leave the stage in grand style; a tribute to the many operations he has participated in and to the important work for the security of Italy.
The Maestrale, which over the years has crossed different seas, participating in operations in the Persian Gulf during the war in Iraq, in the Gulf of Aden and Mare Nostrum, for his last greeting it is engaging even in favor of social actions, raising funds for Telethon, exacerbating the WWF project for the protection of turtles and preparing an exhibition about theNavy.
In addition, during the last trip before arriving at the port of La Spezia to be discarded, the ship opens to the public for the first time.
