12 months to the start of the construction of the new Ferry Darsena of the Port of Civitavecchia, which will bring positive consequences on traffic and employmentWe have received and published the following Press Release.
Civitavecchia, 15th October 2019 - This morning the President of the Port System Authority of the Center-North Thyrrenian Sea Francesco Maria Di Majo has received, together with the Director of the Technical Area Maurizio Marini, the representatives of Consorzio Stabile Grandi Lavori and the undertaking associate R.C.M. Costruzioni S.r.l. from Sarno (Salerno) for the delivery of the yard for the construction of the wharf of the new ferry dock in the context of the project ''BClink: MOS for the future''.
The realization of the project, co-financed by the European Commission, is of fundamental importance to respond to the increase and further development of Ro/Ro and Ro-pax traffic not only on the Civitavecchia-Barcelona route, which is increasingly competitive, also because of environmental advantages, but also, on the activity of promotion that the Authority is pursuing about potential new maritime lines with North Africa.
"We are in a very important phase for the motorways of the sea. Thanks to the "BClink" project we will have a further strengthening of the intermodal corridor between the port of Civitavecchia and the port of Barcelona with benefits not only in terms of traffic but also safety and environmental benefits."
Francesco Maria di Majo.
"Intermodal transport, including mainly maritime transport, creates undeniable advantages on the reduction of harmful emissions to the air, compared to road transport. It also contributes to relieving traffic congestion on our roads and motorways", says the President of the Port System Authority of the Center-North Thyrrenian Sea Francesco Maria Di Majo. "With the completion of infrastructure works at the port like the new ferry dock, the port of Civitavecchia will become a Ro-Ro and Ro-Pax pole in Central Italy (mainly connections with Tunis and Barcelona)", emphasizes di Majo.
The works, which will be finished presumably in 12 months, will have positive effects even at an employment level. "For R.C.M. Costruzioni, this intervention is - declare the representatives of R.C.M. Costruzioni S.r.l. Helium and Eugenio Rainone - a chance to confirm the consolidated experience of our group in the construction of important port infrastructures, adding the works in Civitavecchia to the list of the works carried out and in progress in many important Italian ports".
The company F&M Ingegneria, leader in Europe in the field of design of maritime works has been entrusted through the engineer Tommaso Tassi, the executive design, coordinated to the proposal of improvement.
The company Rogedil Servizi S.r.l., who took care of the construction of the entire ferry darsena, will deal with the direction of the works in the person of engineer Alessandro Guerra, in respect of the Law Protocol and the Framework Agreement signed by the AdSP with Arpa Lazio to monitor the potential affected environmental areas in the course of the execution as well as in phase of completion of the work.
