Mattarella in Civitavecchia for the Navy Day 2017

Civitavecchia and her Historic Port will host the prestigious Navy Day 2017. The event, open to public, will be held at Molo del Bicchiere (pier 7) with shows and events of Navy units and much more.

The guest of honour will be President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella. Many State Appointees, both civil and militar, will surely attend. To date, we don't know the details of the programme nor the schedules. We recommend you to save this page, since we will update it in the next days.

ONE CELEBRATION, MANY EVENTS

The event will be a great show for adults and, especially, for children, thanks to the presence of many navy units, militar units and music bands. One of the most thrilling moments will surely be a skydiving exhibition. At the moment, Frecce Tricolori have not yet confirmed their attendance. “We are the Navy, Navy Day” is the recruiting program scheduled for this Day: Submarine or Aircraft carrier Commander, Fusilier, Sailor, On-board Doctor, Diver, Officer and Non-commissioned officer. A BIT OF HISTORY

On Navy Day the anniversary of the battle of Premuda on 10th June 1918 is celebrated: during World War I, Commander Luigi Rizzo and Officer Cadet Giuseppe Aonzo, in command of “MAS 15” and “MAS 21”, attacked an Austrian naval unit in the waters in front of Premuda (Dalmatian Coast), provocking the "Santo Stefano” battleship to sink.
Unlikely previous years, in 2017 this Day will be celebrated on the 9th instead of the 10th.
