Port: Macii and a comprehensive di Majo

This afternoon (13/6/2017, 3.30 pm), the press conference for the presentation of the new Secretary General Roberta Macii was held at the Committee Room of the AdSP Civitavecchia.

Introduced by President Francesco Maria Di Majo, Macii, who was appointed unanimously by the Port Committee last 27 May, boasts in her curriculum important experiences at the port of Piombino, her hometown, especially in the area of public procurement and infrastructure works.

After thanking President Di Majo, "person of the utmost correctness and professionalism", the new secretary goes on the "complex" work that awaits:

"We will work on the major themes shared by Italian ports not omitting the infrastructures that allow to create new jobs as well as economic opportunities. Value of time and teamwork, working well on these two aspects we can find the right way for the economic turn of the port. I do not feel yet like giving away priorities and challenges, since I arrived recently and I need a little time to study, understand and know."

Then takes the word President Francesco Maria Di Majo for a very interesting question time that unleashes the attendant press. Many topics were treated, among which two surprises that will strike very close to Civitavecchia and its port: the start of the works to the Service Center of Largo della Pace and the Exhibit of Trajan at Fort Michelangelo. But let us go step by step.

CONNECTION FIUMICINO AIRPORT – PORT OF CIVITAVECCHIA

"In Brussels A Bruxelles they find it difficult to believe that we don't have a direct connection between the airport of Rome and the second major port in Europe in terms of tourists, asserts the President. The problem is that there are objective difficulties to organise a public transport, which must provide a collective utility that must be proved. One way might be to make the transport by train up to the station of Ponte Galeria, right behind Fiumicino. This would allow tourists who come from outside Europe, to get faster to the airport of Fiumicino. We are in contact with ADR for the right questions".

NEW SERVICE CENTER AT LARGO DELLA PACE

The news, conveyed by Ing. Marini during the press conference, is that the works to make the Service Center at Largo della Pace more accessible, functional and comfortable will finally begin. AdSP undertook, with reserve, to proceed with the abolition of certain civic uses that have blocked for years all projects. The reserve is linked to the legality of the same civic uses that AdSP disputes but to unlock the situation AdSP has thought to pay nevertheless reserving precisely the occurrence of proceed legally in the future.

Finally unlocked this skein the project provides a complete restyling of the whole area by exploiting to the full all spaces, giving the correct and comfortable accommodation to port operators and extra port operators (authorised tour operators mainly), providing two road entrances with separated inlet and outlet. Citizens of Civitavecchia certainly will thank this decision. The works will start in September/October this year and will last about 1 month.

EXHIBIT OF TRAJAN AT THE FORT FROM JULY

The President has wanted to give this nice preview: starting from 28 July 2017 and until 11 October the Fort Michelangelo will host an exhibition dedicated to great emperor Trajan. The exhibition organised and desired by AdSP will be possible thanks to the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage, to the City Hall of Civitavecchia and the Maritime Authority. The exhibited works will be present from 2 July to Harbour of Trajan in Fiumicino and finish their journey to the Trajan Fora in Rome after being exhibited at Fort Michelangelo.
